MFSUK in Administration: What Borrowers and Brokers Do Next

Written by Justin, Principal · First published 28 April 2026 · Updated · Our guides are researched and drafted with digital tools, then written and approved by Justin, Principal, from his own experience.

Market Financial Solutions (MFSUK, also written MFS UK) entered administration in February 2026, as reported by Mortgage Solutions on 23 February 2026.

Picture the email. You have a live MFSUK loan, or a deal that was due to complete next week. Then the lender's name is in the trade press for the wrong reason. The first move is calm and practical: find out who is dealing with your loan, and what your agreement says.

The 30-second version

  • What happened: MFSUK entered administration in February 2026.
  • Live loan: start with your loan agreement, and contact the administrators with any question, using the details in any notice or letter you have received.
  • Application or pipeline: ask for a written status, then decide whether to re-place the deal.

If you have a live loan

  • If you receive a notice that your loan has moved to a new owner, read it and keep it.
  • Keep every written message from the administrators or any new servicer in one folder.
  • If the end date is near, start your exit early. A bridging refinance can move the loan to a new lender.

If your application had not completed

Ask the administrators where it stands, in writing. If you move the deal, ask the new lender early whether it will rely on the existing valuation and legal work.

If you are an intermediary

  1. List every case by stage: indicative terms, credit-backed terms, valuation, legals.
  2. Do not assume the closest alternative lender has the same appetite; criteria differ.
  3. Tell clients where things stand every week, even when the update is "still working on it".

Before you act: five questions

  1. Have I read my loan agreement's terms on payment, extension and early repayment?
  2. Have I contacted the administrators and kept the reply?
  3. When does my loan end, and what is my exit?
  4. Is my solicitor ready to move if I re-place the loan?
  5. Have I told everyone involved what is happening?
